Stricker's Labor Day Paycheck

Steve Stricker's Labor Day paycheck was 1.35 million - not bad for holiday pay! The win for Steve Stricker here at TPC Norton means he now sits high atop the FedEx Cup Playoff standings in 1st place (racking up 2,500 Fed Ex Cup points here at Deutsche Bank) and has moved to No. 2 in the World Golf Rankings behind Tiger Woods! A possibility of a 3 way playoff with Stricker, Verplank and Dufner left fans and media alike sitting on pins and needles awaiting Stricker's final holes! Stricker got the job done with birdies on 17 and 18, posting a 4- 67 to capture the 2009 Deutsche Bank Championship by one stroke over Scott Verplank (67) and Jason Dufner (65). As I was awaiting Stricker's arrival at the scoring booth on 18, I happened to run into PGA Tour player Jerry Kelly! What a Kool Kat! Jerry was hanging out in jeans, a tee shirt and flip flops - there to congratulate his good friend Steve on his win! Jerry was even gracious enough to say a few kind words about Stricker's game! After posting his score Steve came out of the trailer and the two embraced - what camaraderie! Very nice to see out here on the PGA Tour! Later during the press conference I was able to ask Steve about his very special bond with Jerry Kelly. FYI not only is Steve Stricker "Mr. September," he's also tagged "the Nicest Guy on the PGA Tour!"
