Francis Ouimet Would Be Proud!

WATD's Liza Churchill with LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan, Richard Connelly of the Connelly Group and LPGA Commissioner Emeritus Charlie Mechem

Since it's inception in 1949, the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund has given away more than 22 million dollars in scholarships to 4,700 deserving students! This year despite the difficult economic climate and fundraising uncertainties the Ouimet Fund will award 1.46 million in scholarships ~ up 10% from last year! At this year's 61st Annual Awards Banquet LPGA Commissioner Emeritus Charles S. Mechem, Jr. served as Master of Ceremonies and honoree LPGA legend Annika Sorenstam who was awarded the 15th Francis Ouimet Award for Lifelong Achievements in Golf. Other highlights of the evening included presentation of the 15th Richard F. Connolly, Jr. Distinguished Service Award to former Ouimet Scholarship recipient Peter S. Lynch. The award is named after Mr. Connolly, a Ouimet alumnus, Trustee, Director and former President who has been the major sponsor of these banquets since their inception in 1997. Mr. Lynch is well known as the legendary Fidelity Magellan Fund Manager and has been a great supporter of The Ouimet Fund over the years and is also a Ouimet Trustee. The Student Speaker was Maeghan Kilfoil, who worked at Ballymeade Country Club and Golf Club of Cape Cod and is a third generation attendee of Stonehill College. Good Times had by all!

EZ-Go 2Five

This E-Z-GO LSV (Low Speed Vehicle) is called the 2FIVE cuz it goes 25 miles per hour! Street legal, road ready and registerable for driving on all roads posted 35 MPH or lower.  Offering a no carbon footprint alternative to your gas guzzlin' auto at a cost of about 1 Penny per mile to run with an approximate 25 to 30 mile range between charging!  This could be my next car for quick jaunts around town, to the links or the beach!   Everyone should own one...
