Easter Sunday 2012 ~ Augusta National Golf Course is well suited for long hitter Bubba Watson ~ average driving distance this past week = 290.38 yards. In a sudden death playoff Watson seized victory over 2010 British Open Champ South African Louis Oosthuizen to win the 2012 Masters Tournament. On the second playoff hole, the par-4 10th, Bubba hit his tee shot into pine straw to the right of the fairway. Kicking it into over drive with a magical wedge shot 153 yards to the green which he described as "saw it was a perfect draw. Even though the tower was in my way, I didn't want to ask if I get relief or anything, because it just set up for a perfect draw‑ well hook," Bubba then 2 putted for par and the win. When asked in his post round presser if he was ready for the "cult following" that would likely follow his win at The Masters Watson replied, "No, I'm not ready for fame. I don't play the game for fame. I don't play the sport for fame. I don't try to win tournaments for fame. I don't do any of that. It's just me. I'm just Bubba. I goof around. I joke around." and "I don't really want to be famous or anything like that. I just want to be me and play golf." Btw Bubba some of the other bennies that come with a win at Augusta happen to be your own personal parking space in the Champion's Parking Lot at the club where you can park "The General Lee," a club locker where your green jacket hangs ready for you to don whenever you visit the club as an honorary member, a lifetime invitation to play in the event and a 5 year PGA Tour exemption as well as invitations to play in the other 3 Major Championships!
