Geoffrey Sisk captures his 4th Cape Cod Open Title

2013 Cape Cod Open Champ, former Nationwide and PGA Tour player and Marshfield native, Geoff Sisk accepts his $5,000.00 winner's check at Hyannis Golf Club!  Sisk's 5 under par 66 marks his 4th win at this event ('94,'04,'12).  Due to inclement weather the format was shifted from a 2 day (May 29 ~ 30) 54 hole event to an 18 hole shootout with a field of 138 players.  The Cape Cod Open benefits the Francis Ouimet/Guy Tedesco Scholarship Fund

USGA Adopts Rule 14-1b of the Rules of Golf

May 21, 2013 ~ The United States Golf Association and The R&A, golf’s governing bodies, have announced the adoption of Rule 14-1b of the Rules of Golf which prohibits anchoring the club when making a stroke. The new Rule will take effect on January 1, 2016, in accordance with the regular four-year cycle for changes to the Rules of Golf.  This rule does not change equipment rules aka one can still use a long putter.

Proposed on November 28, 2012, this rule has now been given final approval by the USGA and The R&A following an extensive review by both organizations. The decision to adopt the new Rule came after a comprehensive process in which comments and suggestions from across the golf community were collected and thoroughly considered.   The PGA Tour Player Advisory Council and Policy Board is still engaging in discussions and will announce a decision upon the completion of their process.  For more info go to

The Match: The Day the Game of Golf Changed Forever

Tune into 95.9 WATD's The South Shore's Morning News this Thursday, May 23rd at 7:45am during Goldie Bounce Golf to win an autographed copy of Author Mark Frost's book "The Match:  The Day the Game of Golf Changed Forever."  This book chronicles a private match between amateur golfers Harvie Ward and Ken Venturi and Professionals Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan in 1956 at the Cypress Point Golf Club.   On May 17, 2013 World Golf Hall of Famer and 1964 US Open Champ Ken Venturi passed at the age of 82.  Ken undoubtedly met his 3 playing partners at the Gates of Heaven.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Venturi family
