USGA Adopts Rule 14-1b of the Rules of Golf

USGA video explaining the new Rule

May 21, 2013 ~ The United States Golf Association and The R&A, golf’s governing bodies, have announced the adoption of Rule 14-1b of the Rules of Golf which prohibits anchoring the club when making a stroke. The new Rule will take effect on January 1, 2016, in accordance with the regular four-year cycle for changes to the Rules of Golf.  This rule does not change equipment rules aka one can still use a long putter.

Proposed on November 28, 2012, this rule has now been given final approval by the USGA and The R&A following an extensive review by both organizations. The decision to adopt the new Rule came after a comprehensive process in which comments and suggestions from across the golf community were collected and thoroughly considered.   The PGA Tour Player Advisory Council and Policy Board is still engaging in discussions and will announce a decision upon the completion of their process.  For more info go to www.usga.org/rules/Understanding-Rule-14-1b

AUDIO: @PGATOUR Player JB Holmes at Deutsche Bank Championship #Boston #FedExCup

PGA Tour Player JB Holmes is feeling pretty good these days.  It was around this time a year ago that he had brain surgery to correct a condition known as "Chiari Malformations."  His symptoms included headaches and vertigo which affected his balance.  During his practice at the TPC Boston Driving Range yesterday JB shared his experiences on and off the fairways and greens with a young local man from New Bedford ~ Scott Underhill.  You see, Scott has the same condition as JB and underwent surgery for the condition as well this past December.  Scott, accompanied by his Mom, were treated to an "inside the ropes" experience from JB ~ one which they told me they would never forget! (Btw they even sat in on Tiger's practice regime with his Swing Coach Sean Foley!)  Also among Holmes' entourage was his Mental Coach Julie Elion with whom he's been working with for about 5 years.  Elion's current client list includes Kyle Stanley and a handful of other PGA Tour Players
JB chatted with 95.9 WATD Sports about his recovery process this past year and his 2012 PGA Tour season and said "looking at the grand scheme of things it was a pretty good year ... I would call it a successful year considering everything I was coming back from."  JB's paired with Seung-Yul Noh and Ryan Moore for the first two rounds of the Deutsche Bank Championship and they tee off today at 12:22 on Tee #1.
